Privacy
This site holds sensitive personal data — date of birth, caste category and disability status — because eligibility cannot be answered without it. That is a reason to be careful with it, not a reason to keep more.
What is stored, and why
Nothing below is collected unless you sign in and enter it. Reading the site requires no account and stores nothing about you.

Deleting your account
From your profile, at any time, without asking anyone. It takes effect immediately and cannot be undone. Exactly this happens:

Two of those are worth explaining. An article stays because it is the site’s work, and removing it would take away something other readers rely on; only the byline goes. A record of administrative actions stays because deleting the trail is what somebody covering their tracks would want — the row it points at no longer names anyone.
Who else sees it
Nobody. Your profile is not sold, shared or used for advertising, and there are no third-party analytics or tracking scripts on this site. Email is handed to a delivery provider, which is the only way an email reaches you. The crawler that reads public notification pages sends no information about any reader.
One exception, on the few pages that carry one: an article may embed a YouTube video. The player is loaded from youtube-nocookie.com, which does not set advertising cookies until you press play — but loading the frame at all tells Google your address and which browser you are using. The frame is deferred until it comes into view, so a video further down a page you never scroll to is never requested. No other page on this site contacts anybody else.
Asking about your data
You can see everything held about you on your profile and your dashboard. For anything else, including a copy of it, write to the address on the contact page.
