How it is calculated

Bank DA is linked to the consumer price index and revised every quarter, not twice a year as for central government.

Special allowance, HRA and transport allowance are each a percentage of basic under the settlement. HRA varies by the place of posting, and banks pay lease rent to some officers instead.

Worked example

A new PO or officer at the 12th Bipartite starting basic of ₹48,480: the table shows each component and the gross. The DA figure is marked typical, because bank DA changes every quarter.
