How to use this calculator

How it is calculated
Your service from joining to retirement is counted with both days included — retirement takes effect in the afternoon of the last day — and non-qualifying months are taken off.
What remains is counted in six-month periods. A leftover of three months or more counts as a full period; less than three months is dropped.
The result is checked against the minimum qualifying service needed for a pension. Gratuity and pension then use the same figure.
Worked example
Joined on 1 July 1996 and retiring on 30 June 2026 with no non-qualifying service: 30 years, or 60 six-month periods, comfortably above the minimum for a pension.
