Cleaning up lifts a grey scan to solid ink on a clean ground. It suits a signature and will ruin a photograph.

How to use this calculator

How it is calculated

The image is cropped to the required shape, scaled to the required dimensions, then saved as a JPEG at the highest quality that lands inside the required file-size range — or under a smaller size you ask for, where a portal is stricter than its notice.

The result shows your original and the copy side by side, and checks the copy’s dimensions, format and size against what the form asks for. Your original is never changed.

Everything happens on your device. The image is never sent to us or anyone else.

Requirements change between recruitment cycles. The figures used are shown with the result; check them against your notification before you upload.

Worked example

A 3 MB phone photo chosen for an SSC form comes out at the SSC dimensions and inside the SSC file-size range, as one small JPEG to download.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The resizing runs in your browser, and the page makes no network request with your image.

My exam is not in the list. What do I do?
