CGPA Calculator
CGPA is the average of your semester grade points, weighted by how many credits each semester carried. Enter your semesters and this works it out the way universities do.
How to use this calculator
- Enter the scale your university uses, usually 10.
- Enter each semester’s grade point in its own row. Use “Add a semester” for more than three, up to twelve.
- Add each semester’s credits if you know them — for every semester or for none.
- Calculate to see your CGPA and a semester-by-semester table.
How it is calculated
With credits, CGPA is the sum of each semester’s grade point multiplied by its credits, divided by the total credits.
Without credits, every semester counts equally and CGPA is a plain average. That is only right if your semesters carried the same credits.
A grade above your scale, a semester with no credits, or credits given for some semesters and not others is refused rather than averaged in, because each would give a wrong CGPA without saying so.
Your university’s grade card is the final word: some round at each semester, some only at the end.
Worked example
Semesters of 8.2 (22 credits), 7.9 (24 credits) and 8.6 (22 credits) give a credit-weighted CGPA of 8.22.
